Renovation of an old terraced house

Before

As part of the comprehensive core renovation of an older terraced house, we were able to rethink a central design element: the staircase. The goal was to harmoniously combine functionality, safety, and modern design – thereby not only increasing living comfort but also sustainably enhancing the property’s value.

A particular challenge was the existing terrace door. It originally opened inward, thereby limiting the available space for the new stair landing. To enable a more spacious and architecturally coherent solution, the door was replaced with a new element that opens outward. This created the necessary space for a significantly more comfortable landing.

The old staircase was completely dismantled and replaced with a new, open construction made of solid oak. Extending over two floors, it now creates a modern, clean line design. The child-safe railing with vertical, black-coated bars provides an elegant contrast to the warm wood tone and emphasizes the contemporary character of the design.

The open design creates a noticeably more spacious feeling. Light can flow freely, making the rooms appear brighter, larger, and more inviting. The new staircase integrates seamlessly into the freshly renovated environment – everything appears harmonious, high-quality, and modern.

As the house is intended for sale, the modernization makes a significant contribution to improved marketability and the sustainable increase in the property's value. The new staircase thus becomes a defining highlight of the house – functional, aesthetic, and forward-looking.
